Team Quinte from Canada-Wide Science Fair 2013

Final day in Lethbridge for team Quinte.  Our finalists showed off their projects once more this morning for the public and school groups.  After lunch they took down their boards, being able to keep the headers with their titles.  An afternoon in Lethbridge was enjoyed complete with musical entertainment in Galt Park, a guided tour of Galt museum, dinner at Boston Pizza and some shopping time at the downtown mall.  Back to the residence, packing and some last goodbyes to newly made friends.  It has truly been a great group to supervise.  Everyone really got along, shared stories, laughed a lot and had many interesting conversations.  I think they will really miss each others company next week when it is back to school.  We are proud of all their accomplishments this week.

Here is the word that summarizes their week and what was most memorable for each of our candidates.
Aaron- "half decent"; "the amazing views at Waterton Provincial Park"
Aysar- "awe inspiring" ; "meeting people from every province and territory"
Brandan- " eyeopening"; "gaining a new perspective on science and determination to do amazing things"
Govind- "inspirational" ; "seeing all the top projects from all these creative people in one room was amazing"
Theresa- " supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" ; "meeting new friends"

Team Quinte once again entertained public viewing and school tours this morning in Exhibit Hall with their projects.
We headed to the ENMAX centre across the river from the university for the awards ceremony.  Everyone looked very dapper dressed in their formal wear.  We certainly had much to celebrate as Theresa won a silver in the intermediate category, her third medal in as many years.  The whole team was proud of her accomplishments.  All our finalists did an excellent job supporting each other today.  We have been proud of everyone this week for their mature approach, keen interest and most of all, their positive attitude towards all the events.

Our evening finished  with a trip to Dairy Queen to celebrate our day.  It has been an incredibly busy week and we are all looking forward to a good rest.
